It all started with knocking out the kitchen wall. Which led to us getting the materials necessary for our kitchen island that will go where the wall was. Which led to Clay ripping up all of the asbestos flooring in the kitchen and dining room so that we would know the proper level at which the new dishwasher should be installed (that is yet to be purchased). Which led to installing new hardwood floors in the kitchen, dining room, living room and (probably) the office. This is what happens in the winter when we are stuck inside our house for too long.
That last step is where we have been for the last couple weeks. Clay and his mom toiling away on it the past two weekends and for one or two more until it is finished. I'm hoping the baby waits to make its arrival after the floors are done.
Here is the hallway (still to be floored) and part of the kitchen with the drawers for the island in the process of being painted.
This is the first time I have ever been in love with the floors in my house. The bright green linoleum in Idaho, the carpet in Portland that Peshewa tore to shreds, and the peeling gray linoleum with asbestos underneath just didn't really cut it before. But these floors......they are beautiful.
