Little Pard turned one recently and we hosted a birthday party for him last weekend. Complete with both sides of relatives (everyone except my brother, the Bostonian), beautiful weather, bocci ball, ladder golf, pony rides, lots of good presents, spinach dip & baguettes, pumpkin cookies, apples & caramel, bbq, and of course.... chocolate cake with burnt butter frosting. You simply have to have chocolate cake for the first birthday, and this is why:

I think it was a success and Margaret is already planning her party. Next year I may have to have a joint party - one month between big birthday parties just isn't long enough.

We're pretty proud of our little man with his four little beaver teeth. You just can't find a happier baby (especially not with such killer dimples) and his friendliness and sense of humor makes everyone smile. It's hard to believe it's been a year ago that he arrived.

Naturally I had to play with my camera for his one year photo shoot. This is just a sampling, the entire collection will be uploaded to my online photo album (link on the side column) as soon as I can get the internet to work properly.

The train behind that charming little boy is his main birthday present from us. I found this website of handmade wooden toys and fell in love with the personal feel and the options. Of course most of them are out of our price range, but I have a feeling we may be collecting more of the train cars in the future.
Playing peekaboo. What a ham.
