More little jewels of wisdom from Ozarkian poet Mary Elizabeth Mahnkey...

I have found beauty

I have found beauty
In commonplace things,
In a blue gingham apron
With crisply tied strings.

In freshly washed windows,
With checked curtains brief,
In the mottled rose gray
Of a frost bitten leaf.

Fulfillment

A dress and apron hanging on the wall,
A little blue sun bonnet, that is all;
And she who dreamed of silver lace and scarlet shawl
Gives thanks for oaken roof, and gray hearthstone,
Forgetting dreams she dreamed when all alone
Before this little cabin was her own.
