A couple of home craft projects I have completed recently:

This cabinet is located above our toilet, and since the doors would never stay shut it was a constant head-injury waiting to happen. The solution? Remove the doors and use them as decor in the mud room.

And this next little craft has taken me all week to finish. I am quite glad that it is done. Remember the parrot chair? Clay spent another whole day, or two, stripping the rather revolting material off the matching couch, fixing old boards, sanding, and re-varnishing. Here is the bare bones before shot:
And a week later:

I can't say that I am completely smitten with the fabric. But I did get it on sale, and it does seems to tie in with the parrot chair okay. Now let's just hope a professional interior designer doesn't walk into my house and burst my bubble about all my supposedly great decorating schemes. I can say that I am extremely happy this project is over and, as long as you don't look to close, it actually looks pretty nice. And it's comfortable. I'm just glad I don't have to subject my hands to anymore stapling or sewing - they're feeling quite abused at the moment.

I love the elegant design of the couch. The real test is seeing how it will hold up to the wear and tear of a couple of rambunctious toddlers!

  1. Your couch looks great Elissa! Did you even do piping? I think the material looks nice...it will not show much dirt, that's a plus. :)
